Software Tools at the ECAL/CMS Rome Regional Centre

  A Real Time distributed system under Linux/NT has been developed and put into operation for the assembling of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter in Rome. The system is composed of a set of Instruments with their own software and a dedicated Data Base and Workflow management system (CRISTAL). Most of the software components have been developed using new technologies, such as Object Oriented Programming, CORBA and OODBMS (Objectivity). Web tools are also heavily used both for instruments control and monitoring. We will report on our experience in using these technologies and on the Linux/NT integration.
